Laser sensor detects difficult targets

27 January 2015

A rugged laser sensor, designed for difficult distance-based applications over a range of 25-300mm has been introduced by Banner Engineering.

The Q4X sensor is said to reliably detect distance changes as small as 1mm on challenging targets such as black objects on black backgrounds or reflective items. High excess gain and a 64-element imager combine to minimise errors in detection, counting and validating orientation.

n angled four-digit, seven-segment LED display with push-buttons promises intuitive setup and easy viewing while a bright output indicator provides high visibility of operation. Bipolar (PNP and NPN) outputs integrate the sensor with PLC or other control units.

The sensor has a stainless steel housing rated to IP67, IP68, or IP69K and it is Ecolab certified.
