Improved flexibility for integrated PLC + HMI controller

04 November 2014

Unitronics, a manufacturer of integrated PLC + HMI controllers, has launched two new dense I/O models for its UniStream controller product line.

Enabling users to implement more I/O points in less space, means that these two new models improve the flexibility of the UniStream platform and help users to reduce the overall system costs.

The new models offered are the  UID-W1616T and UID-W1616R. The former includes 16 transistor, pnp or npn inputs and 16 pnp outputs, the latter includes 16 Relay, pnp  or npn inputs and  16 outputs both 24VDC.

UniStream features a powerful dual CPU, HMI touch panels, and a variety of I/O options. The user is able to create a customised, all-in-one controller by snapping in the CPU and I/O modules to the HMI of their choice. The UniStream offers OEMs and systems integrators the ability to cut costs, save space and lower programming time.

In addition, the company has  also launched a 15.6in HMI panel for the UniStream series.  With 7in, 10.4in and now  15.6in HMI panels.

The system utilises UniLogic studio software which is said to reduce programming time by up to 50% by predicting the programmer’s intentions and reusing written code. Programmers are able to build a library of user-defined function blocks and HMI screens which can be imported to new projects or shared with other programmers. The software’s predictive capabilities save a significant amount of time defining I/O points, PIDs and other functions. Features like drag and drop, automatic line creation and re-use options for existing code make programming quick and easy.
