Five megapixel GigE industrial camera

15 April 2014

Teledyne DALSA has introduced the 5 MPixel Genie TS-M2560 industrial camera which features an Anafocus Lince 5M monochrome CMOS sensor.

The Genie TS-M2560 is said to offer new levels of performance with its high frame rate and increased onboard memory. Speeds of up to 51 frames per second (fps) at full resolution can be achieved in ‘fast mode’, and even higher frame rates in partial scan mode.

The image sensor provides a resolution of 2560 x 2048 pixels with a true global shutter. In-sensor calibration allows for on-chip processing and photo correction at the sensor level to generate images of the highest quality.

Unique to the Genie TS camera family is said to be a feature that allows for the capture of multiple Regions of Interest (ROI), reducing the amount of data transferred and simultaneously allowing systems to focus on events that are critical to the inspection. This form of data reduction decreases the amount of information transferred, saving on bandwidth and minimising data transfer along the GigE link, which is capable of transmitting data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100m.

In common with other models in the family, the Genie TS-M2560 offers two image transfer schemes to make the most of the sensor capabilities. In automatic mode, data is output to the PC as fast as the incoming sensor data up to GigE speed. There is also a manual mode in which the Genie supports a set of features to control the data coming out of the camera, allowing flow control and buffering of a large sequence of images within the camera.

The Genie TS-M2560 monochrome camera is said to be suitable for a range of challenging inspection applications including intelligent traffic systems (ITS), entertainment, medical, food and beverage inspection, and electronics and printed circuit board (PCB) inspection, and many others.
