Ultrasonic level measurement now suits harsh environments

The Rosemount 3100 series is now available with rugged and lightweight plastic housings that are rated up to IP66/67.

Emerson Process Management has expanded the measurement capabilities of its Rosemount 3100 series of ultrasonic non-contacting level transmitters to include harsh environments with the option of a plastic (glass-filled nylon) housing on the 3101, 3102 and 3105 process level transmitters.

The plastic housing reduces the weight of the transmitter by 0.5kg compared with the standard aluminium version, making it suitable for installation on extended mounting brackets, or on thin gauge metal tank roofs or plastic tanks. Rated up to IP66/67, it is also now suitable for use in applications such as water storage installations and waste water and effluent treatment plants.

The transmitter range is said to provide accurate and reliable level measurement up to 11m. A local operator interface makes installation and configuration quick and easy. The non-contacting technology with no moving parts enables a long operating life with minimal maintenance requirements.
