Targeted at mid-range applications in industries such as chemicals, petrochemicals, oil & gas, power generation and refineries, the new EJA is said to add new levels of functionality and performance compared with the original EJA. New features include a multi-sensing capability, higher-speed response, safety as standard and a more user-friendly indicator. The unit is also now more compact and lighter so there should be no problems when upgrading from the original sensors. The multi-sensing capability enables the pressure transmitter to simultaneously measure both differential and static pressure, allowing a single transmitter to be used to measure both the liquid level and the pressure in a tank. The time from the detection of a pressure change to the change in the output of an electric signal has been reduced to 90 ms. This enables the units to be used in high-speed applications such as turbine surge control. The new EJA also complies with the IEC61508 standard on the functional safety of electrical/electronic devices and is suitable for use in safety integrity level (SIL) 2 applications in single mode and SIL 3 applications in dual mode. Independent certificates and reports, from both TUV and exida.com, come as standard to support this statement: a feature that is unique to the company’s DPharp sensing technology.
