The recently installed BraumatClassic V6.0 control system is now controlling processes in 31 fermentation and storage tanks, three yeast tanks and a CIP cleaning plant.Siemens was commissioned to carry out a complete modernisation program at the brewery – from planning through engineering with Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) to commissioning. The project also entailed installation of the new BraumatClassic V6.0 process control system which is based on the Windows 7 operating system, including the Route Control System (RCS) for transparent management of complex transportation routes through the brewery.The specifications of parent company Kulmbacher Brauerei, as well as the requirements of the Würzburger Hofbräu brewery itself, were taken into account when selecting a control system for the project. A particular requirement was scope to upgrade the system for connection to new areas such as the filtration plant, the pressure tank cellar, the brewhouse and malt transportation system.
