ABB set to acquire Thomas & Betts

With the aim of increasing its share of the North American low-voltage products market, ABB has announced that it is to acquire Thomas & Betts.

The move will give ABB access to Thomas & Betts network of more than 6,000 distributor locations and wholesalers in North America.
We are told that the transactions would also double ABB’s addressable low-voltage products market, to approximately $24 billion in North America, and will enable distribution of Thomas & Betts products through ABB’s global network.

The move forms part of ABB’s 2015 strategy, to expand its geographic and product scope in one of its most profitable businesses.
