DuPont™ ProShield® FR is a hooded protective coverall made from a flame-retardant SMS non-woven fabric. It is typically used, depending on chemical toxicity and exposure levels, for protection against particles (type 5), limited liquid splashes or sprays of non-flammable liquids (type 6) and in applications where a personal protective equipment (PPE) offering limited heat and flame protection is required. Worn over a flame-resistant Index 2 or-3 protective garment, Proshield® FR protects from light chemical spray (unpressurised) and aerosol, particulates, dirt and grime, and thus extends the life of the garment. DuPont™ Proshield® FR is made from a non-halogenated flame-retardant non-woven fabric, meaning it is free of substances that can cause health concerns for the wearer according to current chemical and toxicological assessments. Proshield® FR also benefits from an antistatic treatment on both sides of the garment (the garment is compatible for explosive zones).Protective garments often have the reputation of being uncomfortable, hot and restrictive. DuPont heavily invests in research and development and constantly listens to customers to provide the very best in safe and comfortable garments. Proshield® FR is manufactured from SMMMS, a highly breathable, non-woven structure that can contribute to wearer comfort,by allowing excess body heat (air and water vapour) to escape. The generous cut of the coverall allows freedom of movement. Chloe Wetherell, New Product Leader, Chemical Industrial, EMEA commented, "We put the coverall through a rigorous testing process to review its comfort, breathability and flexibility, something that means a lot when you’re working in hot and stuffy environments for several hours at a time. The generous cut and elasticated waist, ankles, cuffs and hood means the coverall fits well, doesn’t restrict you whilst working and is extremely comfortable to wear". In addition to these, DuPont™ Proshield® FR features orange colour-coded seams to ensure clear identification of the garment. In order for wearers to safely and effectively use the Proshield® FR garment (an Index 1 coverall), it is mandatory to ensure that it is always worn on top of an Index 2 or 3 garment and hood/balaclava to ensure that the coverall does not come into direct contact with the skin (norm EN ISO 14116). DuPont recommends a flame resistant garment made of DuPont™ Nomex®. Care should be taken to protect the face, ankles and wrists as these are the areas most at risk, especially during movements. For those requiring protection against occasional and brief contact with small igniting flames and chemicals and wanting to extend the life of a heat and flame protective suit of Index 2 or 3, the DuPont™ Proshield® FR coverall can deliver a reasonable level of protection whilst providing a breathable, comfortable and flexible coverall. please visit www.dupont.com
