Brochure points the way to the right wireless solution

09 August 2011

The ‘Wireless in Automation’ working group of the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association) has published a new brochure as a decision-making guide for selecting the right wireless automation solution.

The brochure provides an overview of the use of wireless systems for various fields of application within the industrial environment. By considering both the economic and technical aspects, the reader is supported in the choice of wireless systems and in planning the application.

The brochure explains the benefits as well as the boundary conditions for using wireless systems, based on the experience gained by the manufacturers and research facilities involved in process and factory automation.

Wireless systems mainly use license-free ISM frequency bands (industrial, scientific and medical) for transmission purposes. Different wireless technologies have established themselves in the market as a result of the different application requirements, for example with regard to transmission speeds and distances to be covered. Wireless technology is becoming increasingly popular in both process and factory automation.

The brochure can be downloaded from the ZVEI website at www.zvei.org/automation/wireless
