Siemens employees give donations to Japan

26 April 2011

Siemens AG and its employees have demonstrated their concern for the victims of the natural disaster in Japan, by undertaking an international fundraising campaign which has collected €4 million in donations to support those affected by the Japanese earthquake and its aftermath

Siemens employees from 45 countries contributed a total of around €2 million. The company then matched this amount and, in addition, donated €2 million in kind to provide immediate assistance.

The campaign was launched on 16 March. In the first ten days, company employees transferred a total of more than €1 million to special donation accounts at international aid organisations. Siemens promised to match all employee donations made by April 15. To support local medical services, the company has also provided donations in kind such as mobile ultrasound devices and reagents for lab tests.
