Southern Manufacturing looks set to break records

08 February 2011

Southern Manufacturing is said to be the UKs largest regional manufacturing technology, electronics and subcontracting exhibition, with over 600 exhibitors expected to display their latest technology developments this year. The 2011 event will take place from 16th to 17th February at Farnborough FIVE Show Centre.

Visitors to the event will be able to watch a series of live demonstrations and view new product launches in electronic components and manufacture, machine tools and tooling, rapid prototyping, packaging and handling, materials, ICT, factory and process automation, test and measurement, labelling and marking and drives and controls.

Tickets to the event are free to industry professionals. Pre registration will give delegates the ability to book advanced seats at seminar sessions and a free copy of the Exhibition catalogue, which would cost £10 at the door.

This year, the show organisers have been working with the region’s Manufacturing Advisory Service to put together two seminar programmes for 2011 event that address the needs of the primary sectors engineering and electronics.

The opening session for the Engineering Seminars is ‘Value Stream Mapping’ which will highlight how to formally map out your process flows for critical analysis. Other topics covered in this seminar session include ‘Coming back to Quality’ which discusses the lessons to be learned from Toyota and BP.

Those working in the aerospace and defence industries will be interested in the ‘Supply Chain and SC21’ session. For designers there is a session looking at ‘Lean’ design, explaining how lean techniques can be successfully applied to the design process.
