Rexroth unveils SPS plans

14 September 2010

Bosch Rexroth has unveiled its line-up for this year’s SPS/IPC/Drives exhibition. From November 23 to 25, Rexroth will showcase automation and engineering software and hardware at the show in Nuremberg, Germany.

Rexroth’s IndraMotion MTX CNC control system boasts HMI features that include quick access to operating functions and continuous visualisation of key machine and controller state information. The user-interface is designed so that the operator simply activates clearly-marked keys to switch to a different task group. All of the data and applications needed for machine operation, programming, management, maintenance and diagnosis are organised into eight task groups on the Rexroth IndraMotion MTX HMI. One press of a key is all that is needed to access particular function in any of the task groups. Multi-window technology enables the user to switch to another task group without ending the current function. This feature reduces operating effort, as the desired function is only a few key strokes away.

Also revealed at the event will be Rexroth’s new IndraDrive Cs ECONOMY which is scalable servo drive designed for price-sensitive applications to high-performance servo solutions. It is also available in UNIVERSAL and ADVANCED configurations. The compact converters are targeted at applications ranging from 0.05 to 3.5 kW of continuous power. It is available in scalable hardware configurations with an advanced multi-ethernet interface, providing the latest SERCOS III, Profinet IO, Ethernet IP & Ethercat interfaces. The ECONOMY drives also facilitate implementation of modern safety concepts through safe disconnection of drive torque (“safe torque off”) as certified to the new safety standards.

The new IndraWorks engineering framework which simplifies the process of creating modular machine software with innovative language extensions for object orientation and new editors, optimised compilers, and debuggers for all IEC 61131-3 languages, will also be showcased at SPS/IPC/Drives 2010. It realises machine-specific sequences and functions via modular, easy-to-expand software programmes. The new version of IndraWorks supports team engineering for machinery and plants through an integrated interface to version management systems.

Visitors to the stand will also get to see the new Rexroth IP 20 SERCOS III Inline Bus Coupler, which is now available to complement the SERCOS III Inline Block I/O Module range and part of the Rexroth I/O portfolio. The bus coupler provides SERCOS III connectivity for the extensive Inline I/O portfolio, offering total flexibility to put together the best combination of I/O components for an application. Up to 61 additional I/O modules from the Inline I/O portfolio can be connected in series to the coupler. In addition to the standard digital I/O terminals for 2-32 channel selectivity or analogue I/O terminals for 2-8 channel selectivity, other terminals are also available including communications terminals and terminals for special automation functions; for example, position or temperature data acquisition. The coupler is supplied with 8 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs already on board. An SDDML device description file is used to configure the I/O station.
