Alfa Laval cements position in biodiesel with acquisition

17 August 2010

Alfa Laval is pushing into the biodiesel market, acquiring Swedish company Ageratec. The biodiesel specialist will be fully integrated into the Alfa Laval group and will be located as an application centre specialising in the biodiesel market in Norrkoping, Sweden.

Ageratec is a leading technology provider of modular biodiesel plants ranging in capacity from 2,000 to 340,000 litres per day, producing ASTM or EN compliant biodiesel. Feed-stocks for the biodiesel include a broad range of fats and oils, with a clear focus on inedible feed-stocks having a high fatty acid content (up to 100 per cent FFA) offering superior cost advantage to the buyer.

Alfa Laval believes the integration of Ageratec strengthens its overall position within the biodiesel industry.
