Jubnail Industrial College in Saudi Arabia now boasts a sophisticated process simulator following a gift, worth $165,000, from Emerson Process Management. The PlantWeb Cruiser was donated to the technical institute at a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony.

The MoU was signed between Dr Adel S. Bahakeem, managing director of Jubail Industrial College and Dr Mohamed M. Elawny, general manager of Emerson Process Management in Saudi Arabia, in the presence of other key senior representatives from both parties.

Dr Elawny said: “The PlantWeb Cruiser is a full-sized process simulator that integrates real measurement instrumentation from Rosemount and Micro Motion, Fisher Control Elements and a DeltaV control system that will provide the students with hands-on experience of the actual working conditions of a process plant and control room.

“Part of a four-year program to maintain a high standard of equipment and the latest technology, Emerson will also provide technical support to the faculty on the use and maintenance of the process simulator, with investments running into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“Jubail Industrial College is committed to providing Saudi Arabia with technically trained quality manpower and we are sure that our efforts will assist in their endeavor, and also ensure maximum benefit for the students”, added Elawny.

Dr Bahakeem added: “We are confident that this process simulator will go a long way in boosting the knowledge of our students and enhance their skill level. The demand for highly-skilled and well-trained personnel is on the rise in the Kingdom and this PlantWeb Cruiser will ensure that our students are better equipped to take on challenges.

“JIC was established with the aim of serving the educational and training needs of Jubail Industrial City and the local and regional community. This process simulator also provides us with the potential and capability of providing training to the industry in Jubail through seminars and workshops”.
