Other features of these Access Points include extensive management, security and quality of service functions plus layer 3 IP routing.The BAT300 FX2, which can be used both as Access Point and Access Client, is designed to operate at temperatures in range -30°C to +50°C and also fulfils all shock-resistance, vibration-resistance and electromagnetic compatibility requirements (EN 50155). The high level of operating security is facilitated by the LAN ports' M12 connections (10/100 BASE-TX) plus a redundant power supply with two 24V DC and one 48V DC connections supporting power-over-Ethernet compliant with IEEE 802.3af.The Access Point's wireless module operates either in the 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz waveband. The fast roaming function facilitates uninterrupted connections while passing from one radio cell to another. The integrated IP router can be used to form up to eight subnetworks, and analogue or DSL modems can be connected for WAN routing or remote maintenance. The network can be managed using web interface, Telnet, TFTP, FTP or SNMP V2 and the redundancy methods Rapid Spanning Tree and VRRP ensure a high level of network availability. The quality of service functions as specified by IEEE 802.11e facilitate features such as prioritisation of voice or video streams.The BAT300 FX2 supports all encryption and authentication methods compliant with IEEE 802.11i and 802.1x/EAP as well as WEP, WPA, WPA2, TKIP, AES and LEPS. It also comes with WLAN port filters and protocol filters, a radius server and a firewall with intrusion detection. Rogue AP detection is also available via background scanning and WLAN monitor. The Access Point can be installed indoors or out, for instance on walls or masts. The dimensions of the robust metal housing are 261 x 189 x 55 mm (W x H x D)."The new IEEE 802.11n transmission standard facilitates data rates comparable with those of a terrestrial Fast Ethernet network", says Product Manager Olaf Schilperoort.
