Kuwait food company turns to FMA

16 February 2010

Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries has automated its bulk grain handling systems with equipment from UK based FMA. The project management process control and solutions integration specialist supplied electrical equipment, control panels and automation for the project.

FMA was drafted in by Stock Redler, part of the Schenk Process Group and a specialist in dry goods handling systems.

There are 150 silos in the system, which store hundreds of thousands of tonnes of grain. The system had to be capable of transferring 1,000 tonnes of grain per hour from ships into storage to supply the bulk of the grain not just for Kuwait but also a number of surrounding countries.

FMA designed and manufactured an electrical control system with two major MCCs and 35 metres of panels to control the system's high capacity conveyors.

Dave Short, director of FMA, said: “FMA’s appointment to handle a contract of this magnitude says everything about our close working relationship with Stock Redler. It is long term relationships like this that really can deliver the best possible results for our clients”.
