Economy forces Forum Robotic to postpone

22 January 2010

After returning in 2009 from a three year break, Forum Robotic 2010, scheduled for March, has hit a major hurdle and will be rescheduled for 2011. Organisers blamed the cancellation on the economic situation and reset the date for May 25 – 26, 2011.

”A symposium like Forum Robotic with its location in the north is both welcomed and desired by the industry. However, the economic situation in 2009 simply didn’t permit a large number of companies to participate. In consultation with our partners and sponsors we have therefore decided to reschedule the event“, said Dr Hubert Borgmann, the project manager of Forum Robotic at Messe Bremen in explanation of the postponement of the conference and accompanying exhibition.

Following a three-year break Forum Robotic made a new start in Bremen at the beginning of 2009. The event was organised by the Bremen section of the Association of German Engineers (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure, VDI) and new partner, Messe Bremen.

Following the cancellation of the 2010 event, Borgmann says the event will now only be held every two years.

“After the crisis the robotics industry is in a process of re-orientation, also with regard to new industry and customer potential. Forum Robotic offers the ideal platform for this in the coming year”, said Jürgen Pulcher from Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V. Germany.

Forum Robotic will take place in Hall 7 of the Bremen Exhibition Centre.
