Vacon bolsters Brazilian operations

27 October 2009

Vacon has relocated to bigger premises in Brazil, underlining the growing importance of the Latin American market to the drives manufacturer. The Brazilian economy is rapidly recovering from short-term recession and, according to Vacon, the country represents a promising market.

"Now that the economy is picking up again in Brazil, we see a lot of business opportunities in Latin America. To serve our existing and new customers and partners even better, we have employed new personnel and moved our office in Barueri, São Paulo, to new and larger premises," said Heikki Hiltunen, executive vice president, Vacon Group.

"Our growing sales figures have increased the need for technical support. Now we are strengthening a technical support and service network in Brazil and we will expand the network to cover the entire Latin America," said Claudio Luis Baccarelli, managing director, Vacon Latin America. "We also want to win a bigger share of the mining, pulp and paper and marine and offshore segments, and we are looking for partners in original equipment and original design manufacturer businesses. With a strong local team we will be able to provide fast deliveries and high-quality support and services to our existing and new customers," Baccarelli concluded.

Vacon founded an office in Brazil in 2007. The inauguration of the new premises was celebrated on October 22 with customers, co-operation partners and representatives of the Vacon Group management attending at the ceremony. The guest of honour was Jan Jarne, Finland's Honorary Consul General in São Paulo, Brazil.
