Wireless Congress to Meet in Munich

Some 50 lectures, tutorials and an exhibition will be offered at this year's "Wireless Congress 2009: Systems & Applications" on 21 and 22 October 2009 in Munich. The emphasis of this sixth meeting of the wireless community is on the foundations and applications of current and future wireless technologies.


The Co-organiser of the conference, the ZVEI Association of Electronic Components and Systems. emphasises the great importance it sees in this dynamic growth market.

Leading speakers from industry, research, and science will present technology-oriented overviews of what in the wireless industry is now using and what is hoped to be achieved in the near future.

The English-language lectures cover the topics

  • Wireless Networks: ZigBee / 802.15.4;
  • Wireless Location Technologies;
  • Wireless Systems Design;
  • Wireless System Test;
  • M2M (machine-to-machine) and Automation Systems;
  • M2M and Network Engineering;
  • Bluetooth Technology;
  • Energy Optimization;
  • RFID Technology: Status and Trends; and
  • 3G LTE Technology.

In addition, participants receive two-hour tutorials, also in English, detailed insight into

  • RFID Basics;
  • Security for mobile / embedded Applications; and
  • Programming Wireless Applications.

Highlights of the conference are papers by Benno Ritter, Vice President of Marketing of the ZigBee Alliance, Anders Edlund, marketing director of the Bluetooth SIG, and Frank Schmidt, CTO of EnOcean. The papers will discuss the latest developments and applications of ZigBee and Bluetooth standards and energy harvesting technology.

The research firm iSuppli will provide technology and market assessments in future wireless industry segments, and a panel discussion on evolution in all sectors of wireless mobility. "


The congress is organised by the journal Electronics, the ZVEI - Electrical and electronics industry and the international trade fair Electronica.

Support comes from the ZigBee Alliance, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, the EnOcean Alliance, the VDE / VDI Society for Microelectronics, Micro and Precision Engineering (GMM), the Information Technology Society in the VDE (ITG) and by research firm "iSuppli.
