“We experienced strong growth during recent years. To do justice to this growth we simply needed more room,” said Matthias Altendorf, Managing Director of Endress+Hauser Maulburg.

“In addition, we were able to consolidate sites all over the Wiesental in Maulburg thus optimising production and logistic processes. The fact that we were able to finalise the most important construction works by the beginning of winter in 2008 facilitated the start into the economically difficult year of 2009.”
Consolidated in one place
The site of the oldest building of the production plant gave way to a new three-storey building which provides room for a staff restaurant, modern offices, production areas, a state-of-the art test and application centre as well as a certified test laboratory.

The production of level instruments was relocated to a two-storey extension of the adjacent production building in the Schlagetermatt. Mr Altendorf said that, thanks to the “level factory,” production and logistic processes could be streamlined and efficiently arranged at one site.
All production areas for pressure and differential pressure instruments were relocated to the existing building in Harzfeldstrasse. The relocation involved equipping the high-tech production areas—ceramic pressure sensors and highly integrated electronics— with state of the art machinery.
In addition, the extension of the Maulburg site facilitated the integration of the external sites for logistics and production in Schopfheim and Lörrach-Brombach. The plot purchased from SKF Magnetic Elektromotoren GmbH in April 2008 houses today the departments of mechanical training, testing and fixture construction, industrial engineering as well as the logistic supplies for the production and sales centers overseas.

Additionally, both of the separate extension buildings created the possibility of establishing a modern IT landscape to meet the latest security and availability standards.
Regionally rooted, present around the world
The new buildings provide Endress+Hauser with the necessary means to continue successfully its development in the areas of level, pressure and tank gauging measurement.
“Extending our Maulburg site is an important step in our corporate strategy,” explains Klaus Endress, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group. “We are deeply rooted in the border triangle around Basel and we will continue keeping our know-how here. Simultaneously, we are present around the world with an international network of our own sales and production centres.”
