MTEC pushes for common wireless standard

Speakers at MTEC will propel the industry towards a common wireless standard, according to Canon Communications, which has organised an education programme titled ‘Wireless Solutions for Automation. The event, to be held on March 25, 2009, will feature speakers from ABB Instrumentation, Emerson Process Control, Honeywell, Siemens and Yokogawa.

The keynote address will be given by Henk Van Der Bent of Yokogawa and, in addition, on March 26, the theatre is also scheduled to host a session by Andy Verwer – who will discuss Profinet, Profibus International’s industrial Ethernet-based automation architecture for factory and process automation. Peter Cheetham, from the ASI-Interface Expert Alliance, will support him looking at the full aspects of Actuator Sensor Interface.

Part of Advanced Manufacturing UK, Mtec focuses on technology related to instrumentation, measurement, sensors and control in the process and manufacturing industries and is held in at the NEC in Birmingham, UK March 25-26, 2009.
