PLC installation follows expansion at Novartis

06 January 2009

Novartis WFI (purified water for injection) plant, in the UK, installed PLC control systems, turning to Glossop based Thermal Transfer for the Denca Controls built systems. Widnes-based Denca worked with Thermal Transfer to provide the PLC systems designed to serve a recent Novartis expansion and increase production capacity.

One PLC manages a new WFI facility and a further two control a clean room buffer water storage system. Denca claims Siemens S7 PLCs were chosen for their real-time performance, communications options and easy operation.
