World’s smallest Ex camera

Some say video will be manufacturing’s next sensor. Imagine putting a TV camera into places where no human would want to go. That’s what Stahl’s idea was when it created this tiny CCTV camera.

With a diameter of only 55mm, the EC-710-090 Ex is not only the smallest industrial camera, but also one that is suitable for installation in hazardous areas. With protection type IP68 it can withstand ambient temperatures from the arctic to the desert: -30 to 75 deg C.

The stainless steel housing resists exposure to chemicals as well as mechanical stress such as impacts and vibrations. The optical components are protected by a hardened lens. To prevent condensation and protect from frost the lens surface is heated.

WHERE IT WILL GO IN THE NEAR FUTURE

In the next step design engineers will surround the lens with LED lighting so that the camera can be placed in areas with no lighting.

Imagine putting the camera inside a batch reactor tank, to watch dangerous chemicals as they mix together. Will chemical engineers ‘see’ anything new that will give them more insight into the process?

This camera will go where no man has gone before!
