Oliver valves in high pressure project

Oliver Twinsafe Valves installed its largest valve yet just off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico. The Cheshire, UK based company produced a 12” 1500lb Double Block and Bleed valve to combat high pressure levels within pipelines.

Constructed in accordance with ASME B16.34, the carbon steel valve weighs a total of 4.6 tonnes and utilises Double Block and Bleed trunnion mounted ball valves.

The project utilised six 12” valves, as part of an integrated package of valves, which saw a number of Double Block and Bleed ball valves in sizes from 1” up to 12” being installed throughout the project on main pipelines for process isolation.

Mark Oliver, deputy chairman for Oliver Twinsafe Valves, said: ‘This project required a vast amount of Double Block and Bleed ball valves that could safely operate process isolation applications to the highest standard and we could provide the valves in a wide range of sizes to meet the specific needs.’

Oliver Twinsafe Valves utilises trunnion ball technology to offer increased safety measures within one valve body, minimising the risk of leaks whilst offering significant weight and space savings over two standard isolation ball valves (in typical Double Block and bleed format).
