Hirschmann Automation and Control has added three new IP67 Ethernet PoE switches to its OCTOPUS series.

The switches have either eight or 16 twisted pair ports (100 BASE TX) or 14 twisted pair and two fiber optic uplink ports (100 BASE FX). They can transmit both data and current via one and the same cable. The maximum power that can be transmitted is 12.95 W per remote terminal.

Fast redundancy processes and various security mechanisms are also supported in addition to management functions.

The switches and all connected remote terminals are supplied with any input voltage from 24 V to 110 V DC via two separate IP67 voltage converters. This allows remote terminals of data networks to be supplied with power under harsh ambient conditions via Power over Ethernet.

The OCTOPUS switches are rugged enough to comply with the EN 50155 standard for railway vehicles.
