The Manchester company put the system in place to ensure compliance with environmental legal requirements, prevent pollution and deliver continuous improvement in its environmental performance.Mono’s EMS will be audited and monitored by a UKAS certified body on an on-going basis to ensure that it is performing efficiently and meeting specified targets and goals, in accordance with the ISO 14001 standards.Commenting on the recent certification, Mono’s managing director, Paul Naylon, said: ‘Achieving ISO 14001 certification is an extremely positive step for Mono, which clearly demonstrates our dedication to continually improving our environmental performance.‘With the commitment of the entire company, this EMS will enable Mono to address the delicate balance between maximising productivity and reducing the impact that Mono’s activities can have on the local environment, as well as on a nationwide scale.' ISO 14001 is designed to be compatible with ISO 9001, an internationally recognised standard for internal quality management. In addition to its ISO 14001 certification, Mono has also been awarded the Investors in People Award (IPP); a tool designed to improve the performance of a company by developing and improving the people behind it.Paul Naylon continued: ‘As a company we are constantly striving for improvement when it comes to both processes and people, so to be recognised in both areas is a significant achievement.‘This IPP award acknowledges the importance that Mono puts on continuous improvement for staff throughout the business in terms of working environment, job satisfaction, communication and career development opportunities.’
