Good bye to serial ports

31 March 2008

Just like floppy disks, COM ports are disappearing from PCs in favour of USB ports. So, to connect with legacy serial systems, the UPort permits users to add up to 16 COM ports with one USB port.

The UPort series is automatically detected and installed in the host PC. COM Preserver™ stores the serial port configuration in the UPort and will restore it to another PC in a few seconds, saving installation time. Moxa claims the UPort is the ‘world's first’ to support USB 2.0 operation at 480 Mbps.
