Yokogawa scoops BP contract

Yokogawa Electric will provide BP’s Exploration and Production segment with Main Automation Contractor Services (“MAC Services”), under a new global agreement.

The Japan based company will supply products and services including its Centum CS3000 Integrated Production Control System, ProSafe-RS Safety Instrumented System and STARDOM Network-based Control System.

Teruyoshi Minaki, director and executive vice president of Yokogawa’s international business headquarters, said the company delivered “forward-looking and reliable” upstream automation solutions.

“The agreement helps pave the way for Yokogawa to become No.1 in the global IA market by 2010,” he said.

“We chose Yokogawa based on BP’s E&P segment strategy in the major projects area with the overall objective of improving BP’s performance,” said Neil Shaw, E&P Technology vice president of projects and engineering. “We are looking to develop a longer term, more collaborative performance based relationship with Yokogawa to deliver transformational performance
