Schneider calls for rejection of counterfeit products

19 October 2007

Schneider Electric has warned that counterfeit products can create hazards, following the discovery of tens of thousands of imitation Square D circuit breakers.

The products were uncovered in the inventory of Breakers Unlimited, of Noblesville, USA.

Bill Snyder, vice president of channel development at Square D, cautioned against the use of counterfeit circuit breakers.

“They can fail to trip in the event of an overload or a short circuit, thereby creating a risk of fire,” he said.

“Anyone choosing to deal in a marketplace where these counterfeit goods are sold is potentially putting people and property in danger.”
