Rockwell adds family to switch range

06 December 2006

Rockwell Automation claims to boost machine safety with a family of coded non-contact switches.

The Allen-Bradley Guardmaster SensaGuard switches are intended for machine guarding with part or full body access and are Category 4/SIL 3 rated. The switches feature RFID technology for coding and inductive technology for sensing.

The switches can be connected to many types of standard Allen-Bradley Guardmaster safety relays via two Safety PNP outputs and one auxiliary PNP output. These include the Minotaur MSR126, MSR 127, MSR200/300 Family, SmartGuard and Safety I/O Blocks. The company claims a sensing distance of 15 to 25mm allowed by multiple actuator sizes. Both plastic and stainless steel versions carry an IP69K environmental rating.

The stainless steel version is aimed at food and beverage and life science industries.

By using standard size mountings and proximity switch brackets Rockwell says the new product is easy to retrofit to existing installations. LED indicators located on the switch body give a visual indication of door status.
