Acquisition triumph for MTL

05 June 2007

MTL Instruments Group has acquired Australian-based Elpro International for £12 million (approximately €18 million).

The electronic instrumentation and protection equipment specialist said it expected to expand Elpro’s international customer base by leveraging its own existing sales channels and OEM relationships.

Elpro provides wireless solutions for applications in the process control, manufacturing and utility markets.

In the year to 30 June 2006, Elpro achieved a pre-tax profit of AUS$1.2 (approximately £0.5 million or €0.7 million).

Graeme Philp, chief executive of MTL, said: “ MTL is already a leading supplier of components for this communication layer and now, with the addition of Elpro, we can provide interconnect solutions using all major technologies, including traditional analogue, Foundation Fieldbus, Industrial Ethernet, Optical and Wireless.”
