Premier Power boosts compressor control

16 January 2008

Premier Power has installed a SCADA solution to monitor compressor status in the control room of its gas-fired electricity generating station B at Ballylumford, Northern Ireland.

The power company received the system, that enabled remote viewing and control of three Atlas Copco air compressors, from Denca Controls.

It incorporated Rockwell Automation’s RS View SCADA software interfaced into the Allen Bradley SLC PLC DH+ network via Modbus communications and Canbus communications to each of the field mounted Atlas Copco bespoke HMI’s.

‘Premier Power is committed to an ethos of good corporate governance and is acutely aware of the benefits that a policy of due diligence regarding its operating technologies can provide,’ said Alan Brennan, joint managing director of Denca.

‘Accordingly, Premier Power wished to benefit from greater controllability and immediate information delivery, that a new control-room based SCADA terminal for its Atlas Copco compressors would offer’.
