The barcode labeller and inkjet coder manufacturer wanted its P100 Printer Applicator to offer value for money and reliability.Printer applicators often have problems with roller bearings, which require lubricating and are susceptible to dust and moisture.Northampton based Igus supplied a range of Iglidur injection moulded plain bearings. Self-lubricating and impervious to dirt and dust, the bearings fit straight onto a shaft. “With Igus bearings, we used proven labelling methods, but we were also able to take the opportunity to remove several failure modes and improve reliability further by using new bearing technology,” said Jim Mason, director at Codeology. He added: “I recently visited one of my customers, which has ten of our machines operating 24/7 in the arduous environment of a frozen food factory. They have all been running for 12 months and not one Igus bearing needed attention”.
