Corus applauds Flender maintenance

30 July 2007

Corus Engineering Steels has praised Flender after the company carried out a maintenance programme designed to boost efficiency.

The Rotherham works, which has a range of specialist geared units, appointed Siemens Automation and Drives’ Flender service team as part of a push to reduce downtime and increase productivity.

Matt Pitchford, operations engineer at Corus, said: “The Flender service has been excellent, particularly with regard to fault diagnosis via vibration and oil analysis by Steve Stratton, which has helped us target faults at planned stoppages before they become failures.” He added that this had reduced downtime and improved availability and output.

Under the programme Flender also provided oil and vibration analysers, torque readings, temperature and noise checks and general condition monitoring.
