EtherCAT now official IEC standard

EtherCAT, as a communication technology for SERCOS and CANopen drive profiles, is now an International Standard, following a unanimous vote.

EtherCAT has been passed by IEC standards 61158, 61784-2 and 61800-7.

Erich Hutflesz, ETHG board member and manager of control systems at Schuler, described the international standardisation as a milestone for EtherCAT.
