Emerson Opens Flow Centre in The Netherlands

03 July 2007

In late June, Emerson managers joined with employees, customers, local families, and members of the trade press to open their newly-built 8,700 square metre European Flow Centre near Utrecht.

The facility receives flow sensor products from Emerson’s manufacturing centres in the U.S., Mexico, and Brazil, and adapts and calibrates them for use in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It also serves as a sales, training, and support centre, with a total of 275 employees operating in seven European languages.

The range of flow products include Coriolis, magnetic flow, vortex, thermal mass flow, and variable area meters. The facility includes a special “clean room” for assembly and test of Brooks Instrument precision flowmeters, which can measure flow rates as low as one gram per hour.

A major feature is its fully traceable calibration lab, with six individual test areas for different products and flow ranges. Some have already been certified by the Dutch NMi and others are in the approval process.

“We are delighted with the response from our customers following the opening of our European Flow Centre,” commented Andy Dudiak, vice president of Emerson Process Management’s Flow business. “The availability of world class, local resources means we are able to respond rapidly to meet all our customer’s needs. Europe is an important market for us and our investment in this facility illustrates Emerson’s commitment to customer service and support in Europe.”

Local stocks of popular lines and the ability to configure devices to customer specifications, has improved the delivery time across a wide range of products. Mr. Dudiak said the objective was to ship out 96 flowmeters each day, one for each ten minute period of the 16 hour work shift.

The training facility offers a wide range of courses and hands-on training to customer engineers and operators and a new demonstration area and a factory acceptance test area are available for customer inspections and witnessed testing.
