MES for water and waste applications

23 November 2007

Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) can drive continuous improvement and reduce costs, according to Paul Hurst, managing director, Citect.

He pinpointed water and waste treatment operations as an industry that would benefit by implementing MES to record data and present it to operations management.

Hurst said: “MES is the accepted term for an information system that operates in-between physical automation systems and business systems.

“This layer of an organisation is easily recognised as operations management; MES is just a system that supports the operations management function of an organisation.”
