ABB tops automation market

19 September 2007

ABB is the market leader in the automation marketplace, according to a report by the ARC Advisory Group.

In a recently published study, titled ‘Automation Supplier Provided Services Worldwide Outlook,’ the industry analyst said the worldwide market for these services will increase by more than $10 billion over the next five years, to $24.9 billion (approximately €17.7 billion or £12.4 billion) in 2011.

The growing shortage of skilled labour among end users was cited as a primary contributor to the growth of the market.

Larry O’Brien, research director for process industries at ARC, said ABB was well positioned to help industries fill a growing knowledge gap in engineering.

Veli-Matti Reinikkala, head of ABB’s process automation division, said: “As the need for expanded services continues to grow along with the worldwide shortage of skilled technical resources, we will be ready to meet this increasing customer demand with the service products, programmes, expertise and experience that will keep their operations running efficiently and profitably.”
