The Manchester based manufacturer noticed a particular sales increase for its MCERTS-approved products in South Africa.

Flotron Technology of Stellenbosch, South African water equipment specialist, reported a steady climb in sales to Western Cape wineries. These companies introduce samplers to monitor effluent containing sugars, alcohols and tartaric acid. These substances come from the cleaning of the vats and machinery used in the vinification process.

Koos Vosloo, managing director of Flotron, said: “We’ve seen a keen awareness and willingness here to introduce good quality environmental monitoring systems. Aquamatic’s wastewater samplers are popular because they are easy to use and very reliable. As well as wineries, the City of Cape Town came back for more units after being very pleased with the performance of their first Aquamatic sampler.”

He added: “Whilst, E-32 specification and more recently, MCERTS aren’t applicable here, it does tell us and our customers that if the equipment adhered to what we know is very tough UK and European legislation, then it’s definitely got a good pedigree.”
