Sensor cuts out calibration

01 October 2007

A sensors, networking and control systems specialist claims to obviate the need for regular calibration with its TAD series temperature sensors.

Ifm electronic, which has its UK base in Hampton, said the use of two different sensor elements, which monitor each other, ensure that a developing sensor drift is detected and diagnosed.

The sensor has also been designed so that if one element fails the process will continue with the other.

Via the diagnostic output of the sensor, possible error states are directly transmitted to the higher-level of controller. A failure warning and switch-off threshold can be defined via the software.
