Vizmine, a mine-management portal application, based on Adroit’s suite of automation software products, is designed to provide accurate supporting information for a high-pressure mining environment.

Analysis tools support the applications ability to deliver both real-time and historical reports.

The application uses standard, off-the-shelf, products. The user interface is built on the VIZNET Information Portal framework whilst the reporting engine is the OPUS web reporting product. Data acquisition uses Adroit SCADA.

Simon Grimbeek, project manager at Polysphere, said: “Data integrity and timing is always a challenge and more importantly finding where bottlenecks exist. The Adroit Automation software suite ensures data integrity and timeous entry through intelligent, yet easy to use, interfaces that in-turn improve the overall integrity of the solution.”

“We initially looked at building a stand-alone system built on MS Access but soon realised that the main value is going to be in the ‘business intelligence’ aspects of the reporting,” added Raf Bryla, managing director of Polysphere. “In order to achieve this, a more scalable platform would have to be used; we chose MS SQL.”

He went on to explain how data collection issues were overcome with Adroit Technologies Automation Software Suite.

Nigel Ball, sales director of Adroit, commented: “VIZNET gave us everything we needed, an off-the-shelf portal framework that supported secure access to standard databases, OPC (OLE for Process Control) for real-time data and a scalable client-server architecture”.

John Ballinger, managing director of Adroit, concluded: “The off-the-shelf capability of our products allows for easy system customisation. It is this same ease-of-use in this solution that makes us confident that it will become the reporting standard on many of our deep level mines in the future.”
