Combined PLC and HMI with widescreen

13 October 2015

The Vision all-in-one PLC series, from Unitronics has been extended with the addition of Vision700 which has an integrated widescreen 7in touchscreen (800 x 480).

The unit was developed to meet the increasing demand for a widescreen option, which allows OEMs to provide machines with a contemporary feel, cost effectively, without adversely affecting PLC performance.  A built in Ethernet port also enables greater connectivity.

The Vision700 model offers a variety of I/O configurations that can include digital, high-speed, and analogue I/Os, as well as PT100/thermocouple and weight/pressure measurement.  The controller can use both snap-in I/O modules that plug directly into the back of the unit and regular DIN rail mounted I/O expansion units. Expansion modules enable local and remote I/O at distances of up to 1000m, making the Vision700 a cost-effective solution for applications with up to 1000 I/O points.

Machine operators are able to communicate directly with the application via the resistive analogue touchscreen – or remotely, via the free Remote Operator utility – which displays data, colour trend graphs, and alarm screens. The flat fascia and IP66/IP65/NEMA4X rating makes the unit suitable for use in food and pharmaceutical industries, or other applications where spray or wipe down requirements apply.

Communication options include Ethernet, cellular, and industrial protocols including as MODBUS, DF1 slave, BACnet, J1939, CANopen. Each unit comes supplied with an Ethernet port, a USB programming port and an RS232/RS485 port. An additional RS232/RS485 or Profibus communication can be added, as well as CANbus communication.

OEMs and machine builders can also benefit from the all-in-one VisiLogic software which enables rapid hardware configuration, PLC, and HMI application programming. VisiLogic includes a full library of Drag & Drop function blocks for complex automation control tasks, such as PID, and a colour library of industrial images.
