Plant information management system offers improved data acquisition capabilities

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has introduced Exaquantum R3.01, which is said to deliver a six-fold increase in data acquisition performance and can handle five times as many data points as its predecessor giving plant operators a more detailed understanding of their plant processes.

Plant operators need to have temperature, pressure, and other types of data to better understand what is happening in the plants and obtain the insight needed to improve equipment and operating procedures. In keeping with the industry ‘big data’ trend of utilising ever growing amounts of data, there is a rising need for information management solutions that can acquire more data points and have higher acquisition speeds.

Exaquantum R3.01 meets this need, delivering quantum increase in the data acquisition speed and the number of tags that can be handled by a server.

Applications will include real-time creation of plant process databases, processing of acquired data by means of arithmetic and other operations and display of acquired data in graphics, trend charts, spreadsheets

With Exaquantum R3.01, a server can now handle up to 500,000 tags, which is five times the amount possible with the previous release. By being able to analyse a wider range of process data, users can obtain a more accurate understanding of what is happening in a process.

Users are now also able to access data not only from a browser on a desktop or laptop PC, but also from any Windows or iOS tablet. This gives anytime, anywhere access to plant information and aids troubleshooting for rapid resolution of production issues.
