Sercos set for growth

With five million real-time nodes installed world-wide, Sercos (Serial real-time communication system) has reached a further milestone in its over 25 years’ history.  

Around 480,000 new Sercos nodes were installed in 2014, to which Sercos III contributed with a share of 54% and Sercos I/II with a share of 46%. 

The Ethernet-based Sercos III has shown double-digit growth for several year, whereas the number of new installations for the conventional Sercos interface (Sercos I/II) has declined slightly since 2012.
 
Sercos III is an universal automation bus, based on Ethernet, which can be used for interconnecting drives and a whole range of automation devices.
