Modular valve actuation system

05 August 2014

Centork has introduced a modular electric valve actuation system that is designed to offer a flexible actuation solution.

Conceived as a series of interchangeable modular building blocks, the CK actuators provide isolating or modulating control of multi-turn, part-turn or linear valves. Operating from single-phase or three-phase electrical supplies, all actuators are environmentally-sealed to IP68 as standard, making them suitable for use in harsh environments. Plug and socket connections for power supplies and between modules are said to assist swift site wiring and provide a simple connection platform for upgrades and modifications.

The modular construction of the devices offers a wide range of options and features, enabling each actuator to closely match its individual valve duty and function. Choices ranges from basic actuators requiring separate motor controls through to versions equipped with a state-of-the-art intelligent digital control unit which provides integral control with data logging for diagnostics and asset management. The module is compatible with hardwired, digital or analogue control protocols and offers cost-effective integration with centralised and distributed control systems.

CK actuators are manufactured in a range of sizes complying with international actuator design standards EN15714-2 and EN ISO 5210. Manual handwheel operation, designed to standard EN12570, is independent of the motor drive and selected with a lockable hand/auto lever acting on a safe, low speed clutch. All actuator sizes can utilise separate thrust or non-thrust bases, enabling actuators to be removed from the valve without affecting valve position.

The CK Range maximum multi-turn output torque is 6,800 Nm while part-turn torque up to 200,000 Nm is achieved in combination with secondary gearboxes. The torque range facilitates reliable operation of valve types and sizes typically found in industries such as power generation.
