PLCopen has announced that Copalp has successfully passed the tests performed by the test laboratory of iƒak in Germany, for the Certification of a system according to PLCopen Conformity Level ST (Structured Text for its Straton version 8.2 offering.

Since it was founded in 1992, as an independent worldwide association for industrial suppliers and users, one of the activities of PLCopen has been the certification of the IEC 61131-3 editors. Software tools are the subject of testing and certification, which are implemented according to the standard IEC 61131-3 and additional requirements of PLCopen.

“This action shows that there is renewed interest in certification,” said Eelco van der Wal, managing director of PLCopen. “And this reflects the strong interest in IEC 61131-3, not only in the classical industrial controller markets, but also in new application areas”.

“For our company this is a clear step to show that we are serious in supporting IEC 61131-3 in our products in a harmonised way,” said Jerome Follut, CEO of Copalp. “As a world wide player in the software tool market, we believe this gives a positive signal to our existing and new clients.”
