Duerr’s expands honey processing facility

25 May 2010

Duerr’s, a producer of jams, marmalades and honeys, has upgraded its honey processing production line with automation and control systems from Denca Controls. The Manchester based food processor had to add a second melting chamber to increase plant capacity.

Denca’s brief consisted of upgrading the existing system by adding controls, modifying software, configuring and integrating new hardware into the existing Duerr’s process, installing all necessary cables and putting the new system into service.

Process diagrams were drawn up and interpreted as a control philosophy programme employing a Siemens S7 300 PLC controller and a Siemens MP 270 HMI screen and new components built into the existing panels. When the system was up and running, a testing procedure was implemented.
